First Blog Rome 2012 GL W1

Ciao everyone,
Well three days in Italy has showed me that one thing in my life remains true. My family is very Italian. In between all the gesturing wildly while talking, eating way to much food, and sitting down as a family to eat, I find it to be very homey. Other than that Rome has proved to be more of a jungle than a city. Not a jungle with plants (besides the umbrella pine trees which I will say are awesome) but a jungle of stone and crazy Italians. Italians that are willing to fit 500 people in a bus that may be 15 Ft. long. Them crazy Italians...
I will say Barzini is right when he says that people become "Hopelessly addicted" to the "ways of Italy". I can feel myself already longing to stay here for a longer period of time. The fast train riding and beautiful cities have completely captivated my mind. I can not wait to get to see the artistic cities like Florence and Venice. Everything that I have pictured Italy being has been true.
All the sights and sounds of Rome are fair beyond what I expected. I had no clue that there was constantly so much hubbub around here. All night and day people seem like they are out and ready to do everything. I'm constantly waking up to the sounds of motorcycles speeding down the roads, sirens, and sometimes I even wake up to the pleasant sounds of birds. Rome and Italy are just an addicting places to be....Especially the food....

  1. I couldn't agree with you more about finding yourself longing to stay here already, Dave! Even though I know that you're already used to it, I love watching Italians interact with each other. The way of life here is so much different than the America. I had an idea of what Italy may be like but I never thought it would be so lively. I'm so intrigued by everything; especially the food as well! It's amazing!

  2. David,
Good job integrating the readings. Be sure to explain things more. This blog is a little short. take a look at some your classmates. At least 4-5 paragraphs. I did enjoy reading it. It left me wanting more.

  3. Dave, I also agree with Barzini when he says we become "hopelessly addicted" to Italy. We've only been here one week and i've already caught myself calling it home. Although it is for a temporary time, I know so much of the culture and manurisims of Italy are going to come back to Ohio with me.
